Josh's fraternity (SAE) and my sorority (DZ) had a mixer my junior year in college. We knew each other from campus but never really chatted before and somehow ended up on bbq duty together that night while all of our friends were inside having fun. We were out on the patio of Josh's fraternity house grilling meat and chatting about the Black Eyed Peas (it was the early 2000's I promise our taste in music has improved since then) and it was then that I started to notice how cute and funny he was. After we were done cooking we went inside to join the rest of our friends where Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz "Get Low" playing in the background (I still joke that it is "our song") we stayed by each other's side for the rest of the evening.
Cut to the end of the night and I was really hoping he would ask for my number... he didn't. I left the party and got in my car, I sat in the driver's seat and knew I had to do something so after a couple of minutes I decided to go back and give him my number. I drove my car back to the fraternity house and saw him standing on the patio talking to his fraternity brothers, I called him down to my car and handed him my number on a piece of paper and said "You forgot something". With a smile I drove away and hoped he would call. 12 years later and it was the 2nd best decision I've ever made. It was the 1st until August 28, 2015... the day I said yes when Josh asked me to marry him.

12 years and too many amazing memories to count. Here is just a glimpse of what we've shared together over the years.
Diana and I took a trip to Europe in the summer of 2007 right after I graduated from college. We explored Paris and fell in love with the city. It was on that trip that I knew one day I would bring her back and ask her to marry me. I thought we would be back within a few years and at that time I would make my move but it took a little longer... 8 years to be exact. At the beginning of 2015 I began to plan the details, when we would go, where we would stay and what the ring would look like. With Diana's birthday coming up in May I thought that would be the perfect decoy - to give her a trip to Paris and Barcelona. Once that was taken care of the next step was finding the perfect ring. If you know Diana you know that she hates surprises so after a ring shopping trip, some snooping on her Pinterest board and some luck I was able to design that perfect ring for her.
We got into Paris on a Thursday morning and the entire time I was terrified I would somehow lose the ring. I had to wait an entire day but the following afternoon I told her we had reservations at a really nice restaurant and we had to dress up. I also told her that there was a short cut to the restaurant through a park that I wanted to check out. So on the walk over to the park I found myself holding on to the ring for dear life. As we walked through the garden at the Louvre it was pure coincidence that we came across one of my favorite bands, My Morning Jacket. They were in town for a music festival and this could not have been more perfect because it completely threw Diana off. After a quick chat with the band, we walked down a beautiful walkway in the Parc de Tuileries right in front of the museum. Once I arrived at the perfect spot, I got down on one knee and told Diana that I loved her very much and wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. Although she had her suspicions that I was going to propose on the trip what she didn’t know is that I had a photographer capturing every moment of the proposal and had planned to have our engagement photos taken in Paris. Being able to have pictures of that amazing day, and the very moment that Diana said yes was the perfect final detail of that day.
